[9:45a 11/25] Mac Software at Circuit City: From Bob Patterson, "Mac software is finally arriving at Circuit City! One of the stockers ran over during my Demo Day on Friday 11/24 to ask 'What the heck is this?' pointing to an open box of Office 2001 for Mac. I told him--it is what it says, Office 2001 for Macintosh. His comment 'But do people actually PAY $500 for it?" [Not me. Office 98 will do me just fine at least until a carbonized version of Office emerges from Redmond.--Bill]
[Updated 10:00a 11/26] $100 iBook Rebate? From Bob Patterson, "I'm working Demo Days at Circuit City, Jensen Beach, FL. When I arrived today I was surprised to see the price signs for old AND new iBooks marked to reflect the price after a $100 Mail-in rebate. So far I can't find anyone who knows anything about this. Now, if Apple'd do it on the iMac line and drop the price of the Cube a flat $150...." [The Apple Store still doesn't list a rebate for the iBook. Maybe it is just offered by Circuit City but the $100 rebate on all computers and notebooks in their Sunday flyer excludes Apple computers.--Bill] [Update: Scott Spindler wrote that the $100 rebate might be a bundle with an HP printer as noted here. Bill Jensen wrote: "I visited the Springfield VA Circuit City on 11/25, and the iBooks there had $100 rebates, which are probably Circuit City rebates, since it indicated that they would print out the form at the register. I searched the very slow Circuit City web site and found their rebate section, and it excludes Apple only from the package rebate, not the 'notebook' computer rebate."]
