From the Dark Side--Windows Me Not the Answer
From Jim Carr,"Bill Howard is Senior Executive Editor of PC Magazine. Here is an excerpt from a recent column. Windows Me is not the answer. For personal and small-business users, the video editing in Windows Me is a cute feature for about 1 percent of users in what amounts to a Windows 98 Service Pack 2000. The underlying core is just too unstable. Windows 2000 is great on stability. But for noncorporate users, (a) the networking features of Windows 2000 are too complex (am I an administrator? a user? what permissions do I give myself on a standalone PC?); (b) a lot of Windows 98-compliant software doesn't work; and (c) you pay an extra
$100 when you buy a PC with Windows 2000 instead of Windows 98. No PC running Windows 98 or Windows 2000 can be called easy to use.
