TechTool Pro 3.0 Disk Optimization & Mac OS X PB

Other web sites have reported problems with using disk utilities, particularly Norton Utilities. However, TechTool Pro 3.0 may be okay, at least for disk optimization. From Dana Baggett, "I checked my hard disk this AM using TT Pro 3. Booting from the CD I ran the usual tests. It found and repaired some minor file date errors, all having to do with the Mac OS X Address Book. It optimized directory files. Substantial disk fragmentation was reported, which can be attributed to the Mac OS X installer, as I had optimized the disk prior to installation. TT Pro optimized the disk. With the possible exception that it seemed to take a long time -- over an hour -- it completed its task satisfactorily. Perhaps an important footnote, I booted up in the Mac OS 9 system before putting in the TT Pro 3 CD and rebooting from the CD. I have not tried inserting the TT Pro disk while in Mac OS X mode and I don't plan to do so. I have just run Mac OS X Disk FirstAid while in Mac OS X. All is well."
