Word/PowerPoint 98 Updater Installation Problem/Solution

Yesterday, we noted that the updater is available but there is an installation problem. From John Grubb, "I downloaded the new patch from Microsoft. Let your readers know that your applications must be installed on the root or primary hard disk. I had mine on an alternate hard disk and it wouldn't update them until I moved them over to my main drive."
