Additional Follow Up--"Unsupported" Macs on OS X

"I just wanted to cast a very enthusiastic vote in support of Ryan Rempel's Unsupported UtilityX. OS X installed without a hitch one of my ancient PowerMac 7500s. I also used his L2CacheConfig utility to force OS X on startup to configure the L2 cache on my G3 upgrade card. Now I'm ready to do it again on my other 7500. My iBook can wait for OS X. It shouldn't be a problem.

System:
PowerMac 7500, 320MB RAM, PowerLogix PowerForce G3/300 processor upgrade, Tempo Ultra ATA66 PCI Host Adapter for a Seagate Barracuda ATA II 30GB hard drive (HFS+) and the original 1GB IBM SCSI drive (HFS).

OS X has been running as smooth as silk for more than 2 weeks without a crash on this machine! Now I really hate starting up Classic to use Quark and Photoshop. I find myself doing as much work as I possibly can on the OS X version of Freehand 10. How sweet it is! Macromedia is bound to convert a lot of Illustrator users by getting Freehand Carbonized so quickly. Adobe must be feeling the pressure. It can only help.

We hope that Ryan will continue to work on his installer, Unsupported UtilityX, to allow other legacy Macs (i.e. other than the 7300-9600 series and clones) to install Mac OS X. We are particularly interested in the G3 upgradable 1400/2400/3400 PowerBooks.
