AppleWorks 6.2 was Released

for download by Apple yesterday evening, about 6pm ET [Thanks Josh Cisneros and Bill Jensen]. It is available from Apple's AppleWorks' web site. Here is Apple's press release that was posted early in the day.

We downloaded the updater and used it on our Power Mac 533 DP and PowerBook 2000 400MHz. We applied the updater from Mac OS X on our 533 DP and from Mac OS 9.1 on our PowerBook. In Mac OS X, the version is 6.2 on both machines and in Mac OS 9.1 it is 6.1.2, both with a 7/2 date so it doesn't matter how one does it in our experience. AppleWorks simply launches the right version for the OS that is being run. Dana Baggett reported a successful update on his iBook 466.

AppleWorks 6.2 launches pretty fast on both Mac OS 9.1 and X, about equally fast according to our eye. It took an average of 7 seconds to the starting point with Mac OS X on our PowerBook and an average of 3 seconds on our 533 DP from the Mac OS X Applications folder.
