Mac Firmware Upgrades to v4.1.9
are available for slot-loading iMacs, Power Mac G4 (AGP) desktops and the G4 Cube. The firmware upgrade improves performance under Mac OS X 10.1 which requires Mac OS 9.2.1 for Classic mode. There is no firmware update yet for the PowerBook family.
Dana Baggett upgraded the firmware in his iMac 350 SL without incident. However, there have been some reports of sound issues on Macs running Mac OS 9.1 that appear to be resolved by updating to Mac OS 9.2.1 or just installing the Apple Audio Extension v1.4.3 from Mac OS 9.2.1. We have not experienced a sound problem so can not confirm the fixes. All of our Macs were already running 9.2.1.
