Motley Fool Up on Apple

From Dana Baggett, In my Sunday newspaper - and we can presume about 200 others - The Motley Fool is suggesting that "opportunistic investors" take a look at Apple. (Article not on line.) In its "The Fool Take" column, it notes that Apple "pioneered the PC revolution" and says Steve "has made the company an innovator and given its products the brand identity its competitors lack."

The column suggests that the "death of the PC industry is probably premature" and notes that Apple at about $20 a share has more than half that in cash, "which means that the rest of the business is valued at about $9 a share" and concludes that's not a bad price "for a company that has created a distinct franchise." While reminding investors that the risks are high, it notes that "Much of Apple's renaissance is based on Job's vision. The company will have to innovate routinely to stay ahead of the curve."

It concludes by saying that "Apple may be worth a look."
