New Mac OS X Highlights

From a reader, "The highlight of the evening was a demonstration of Mac OS X. I believe this was a very recent build. My jaw was on the floor the entire time. They played three QuickTime movies simultaneously. There was no stuttering, even when one selected any of the three movies and dragged the movie window - all three QuickTime movies continued to play uninterrupted.

"Of course, we were also shown the file preview capabilities of the Finder and got to witness a QuickTime movie playing in Finder preview mode, as well as placing the QuickTime movie in the dock where it continued to play.

"The feature that lets one slow down the the motion of an image or file as it makes it way into or out of the dock was especially impressive, more so when it is a QuickTime movie that was playing.

"Mac OS X will ship with built in printer driver support for HP, Epson, and Canon printers that support either USB or ethernet. Folks with with other printers may have to wait a little longer to obtain drivers for older non-USB and non-ethernet printers."
