Opera 5 for Mac OS X Beta 1 Released

Opera Software released Opera 5 for Mac OS X Carbon Beta 1. The Opera 5.0 for Mac, which has received international recognition for its speed, small size and standards-compliance, now offers Mac users the same stability whether they use systems 7.5.3 to 9.x or Mac OS X Carbon. Mac OS X Carbon users can now enjoy keychain support and auto-completion of URLs like their fellow Mac users were offered through the release of Opera for Mac Beta 2 at Macworld in New York, July 18. Furthermore, users are offered an extra button set originally designed for MacWorld which blends well into the design of Mac OS X, in addition to the default Opera button set.

[Update] Internet Movie "Paper Clips" Released: From Lee McCaulla, Creative Forces, an Internet-based motion picture production company, has just released its first cinematic offering, a computer-animated short called "Paper Clips". The film profiles the adventures of a brave little paper clip who soon discovers the importance of teamwork and sticking together in the real world. "A phenomenal amount of work went into making this piece, and there's a lot of vindication for everyone involved," said Lee McCaulla, company president and the film's director. "We couldn't be happier with the end result."

"Paper Clips" is now available for download for $3.99 from www.creativeforces.com. The low price includes 24 hours of access for repeated viewings. QuickTime 5.0.2 software is required, and a high-speed Internet connection is strongly recommended. The film takes advantage of the all-new Sorenson 3 codec which significantly lowers movie file size, yet preserves the fidelity of the original image.

"Hi. i was at the North Shore Mall Apple Store grand opening and have some pictures.

I was at the Tyson's Corner store in Virginia a while after it was opened (I was there July 2) and loved it. This instance of the store is subtly different in that they had to rearrange to fit around pillars that hold up the roof of this rather old shopping mall. Namely they swapped left for right from the Tyson's store. Also there are new losenge shaped fixtures/tables including the one in the middle front where the cash register equivalent is now located.

The store is right across the rather narrow walkway from a Victoria Secret which my wife thinks is just excellent. It's also a few stores down from a Gap which makes the similarity between the two stores rather obvious.

The line was about 600 long the last time I looked (about 8:40) before the 9:00am openning. they only let 130 or so people into the store at a time and i had to wait for a few minutes before my 140th place in line was let in.
