Apple Gives Away FireWire Implementation Software

according to this ZDNet article. The software needed to support FireWire in a digital device was made and sold by Zayante which Apple recently acquired. Apple is giving it away free to widen the adoption of FireWire in consumer devices. The FireWire Reference Platform 1.0 is available for download from Apple. [Dana Baggett]
