For Cube Owners Only
As frequent readers know, we at Macs Only! are Cube fanatics. The EIC was among the first to receive one shipped retail in early August of 2000 and he still uses it as his main desktop work computer. He also has one at home as does our ace reporter and New England Editor, Dana Baggett. We enjoy its design and superb engineering but we especially enjoy computing silently but powerfully. Mac OS X runs fine on the Cube and Apple's flat panel LCD displays look fabulous with it. The Cube has just enough upgradability in RAM, hard drive and graphics to keep it from quickly becoming obsolete. The graphics upgrade is limited to a GeForce2 MX if one wants to keep it silent but there is also the ATi Radeon and GeForce3 which have fans. What Cube owners wish for most is a third party G4 CPU upgrade to 800MHz or more.
