The documentary's goal is to both disperse the commonly held ideas about gameplayers and further the discussion of interactive entertainment as an art form with vast, cross-generation appeal. The Avatars Offline screening is open to all GDC attendees.

In addition, there will be an Experimental Gameplay Workshop. It will provide a platform for game designers to showcase ground-breaking work, legitimize gameplay research and development, and create a community of experimental game designers.
