Hands-On Review--Titanium Two Slipcase by Willow-Design

The PowerBook G4 Titanium is the greatest-looking laptop around but it needs some reasonable protection to keep it looking its very best. Willow-Design has come up with the Titanium Two Slipcase (shown at right in navy blue) that will just fit the bill for many TiBook owners.

Willow-Design's Titanium Two Slipcase is an excellent compromise between a purely protective slipcase and a carry or brief case. It is a lightweight, compact yet flexible solution for carting around your TiBook, power supply and cord and some accessories. The design offers super protection for your Tibook whether carrying the slipcase alone or in a pack or briefcase.

The Titanium Two Slipcase has these features:

    - excellent protection for your Titanium afforded by 1.2cm (0.5") soft "gushy" foam reinforced by corrugated plastic on the top and sides.
    - a clean, very lightweight and compact size.
    - great carrying comfort insured by a removable foam padded wrap handle.
    - contoured, padded shoulder strap with a special stickly bottom to keep it on your shoulder.
    - nylon web handle, quadruple reinforced with rivets, to insure the safety of your laptop.
    - convenient rubber luggage feet riveted through a high density polyethylene bottom piece to keep it off the ground if you're leaning it against your leg or chair in the office, on the train or in the ballroom.
    - outer front organizer panel with pockets for business cards, pens, elasticized pocket for the Apple power supply plus room for the power cord and an ethernet cable.
    - flat external rear pocket especially handy for maps, magazines or newspapers.
    - lifetime guarantee against defects in materials or craftsmanship.

Our Titanium Two Slipcase looks very classy in charcoal, a medium gray edged in black and with black straps. It complements our Rev. A TiBook very well. However, it comes in a wide variety of colors: black, charcoal, navy blue, teal, purple, royal blue and mauve.

Our TiBook fits nice and snugly in the TT Slipcase laterally so it won't move around. It has a little more depth than the TiBook is thick so things stuffed into the various pockets won't press heavily on the TiBook. Lots of things can be placed in various locations built into the TT Slipcase. There's a full-width pocket in the back for some papers or CDs. On the front under the flap is a zippered compartment that can hold pens, small accessories and the yo-yo AC adapter or CDs. On the backside of the flap there is a zippered, net-covered compartment that can hold larger things like a mouse, cables and a thicker AC adapter. Surprisingly, everything that we carry around with our TiBook fit into one place or another.

We really like the contoured shoulder pad with a grippy material that prevents it from sliding off easily. Our TT Slipcase won't stand up by itself on the little feet when fully loaded but the feet do keep the case up off the ground while leaning against something.

The Titanium Two Slipcase is a superb case. It weighs only about a pound and a half and costs $65 from Willow-Design of Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. Willow-Design makes a lot of cases for various Macs including the G4 Cube.
