Macs in Action--GWU Commencement
"Just wanted to let you and your readers know about the use of Apple technologies at the George Washington University 2002 commencement. Every year, the Interactive Multimedia Applications Group at GWU participates in the commencement by documenting the ceremony and creating a web site. This year we heavily used Apple products to document, design, and develop the site."
"Photos were taken with a Nikon Coolpix 995 and immediately downloaded into iPhoto on a Pismo. This allowed us to send the camera back out to take more photos. Photos for the 360º Panoramic VRs used a SLR camera, however the VRs were produced using QTVR Authoring Studio. Finally the movies, shot with a Canon XL1, were edited with Final Cut Pro 3. In addition, the web site was designed and coded on a G4. We only used a PC to convert the movies into Real Player format. (It was recommended that we offer another format for video.)"
"About the Web Site: The George Washington University graduating class of 2002 held its commencement ceremony on May 20th on the Ellipse neighboring the White House. More than 17,000 relatives and guests attended to witness 4,000 students graduate. Brown University President Dr. Ruth J. Simmons and Washington Redskins Darrell Green headlined GW's Commencement on the Ellipse with Dr. Simmons delivering the commencement address."
