Our Spammers War 2--Reinforcements Arrive!

It's Pair.com to the rescue in our losing battle against a deluge of bounced spam filling our inbox for the past week as we reported yesterday. Pair.com's Abuse Department finally responded today to our plaintive cries for help. Pair is running Apache on Unix boxes and they implemented "procmail" on our webmaster account. They added a general rule that is supposed to dump mail from any mail system administrator (the bounced spammers' email) into "/dev/null", Unix's trash folder. It seems to have taken care of a lot of the bounced spam but not all of it. We studying up on Unix's procmail to try to fine tune the rule to get most, if not all of the remainder.

For those who know Unix, this is the ".procmailrc" file that Pair added to our account:

If there are any Unix jocks among our readers, we would welcome suggestions on how to improve the filter rate. Here is the list of "Froms" that we are getting in the bounced spam: mail-daemon, MDaemon, Mailer_Daemon, Mail Daemon, MAILER-DAEMON, Mail Delivery, System Administrator, postmaster. Finally, how does one ftp the invisible file ".procmailrc" in OS X back to our host?
