Spell Catcher for Mac OS X Coming Soon!
[Updated] Internet Explorer X 5.2.2 and Classic 5.1.6 are available for download for Mac OS X and Mac OS Classic respectively. Finally, two Microsoft Mac applications are patched for the security issue that M$ fixed in its Windows apps weeks ago. There are still 4 more M$ Mac apps (3 M$ Office versions and Outlook Express for Classic Mac OS) to be patched. From the M$ Mactopia web site,
"...version 5.2.2 provides all the latest security and performance enhancements for Internet Explorer 5 for Mac OS X, including the security vulnerability described in this Microsoft Security Bulletin MS02-050. It also provides support for the new Quartz text smoothing feature provided in Mac OS X version 10.1.5 and later, so text on your screen is easier to read."
[Update] From Bob Patterson, "I attempted to run the Internet Explorer 5.1.6 installer on my 9600 running OS 9.0.4, but after clicking "Agree" to the license I get an immediate message that I do not have proper privileges, error -54. I downloaded a second copy some hours later but got the same result. I had no problem installing v 5.2.2 on my iBook 700 running OS 10.1.5." We also had no problem with 5.2.2 but have not tried 5.1.6. [Update 2] We downloaded 5.1.6 and did not have Bob's problem.
