WWDC 2002 Exposes Next Major Mac OS X Version Code-Named Jaguar

Next Monday, May 6, Apple's CEO Steve Jobs will kick off Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference for 2002 with a keynote address. Three years ago he did so with the surprise announcement of the PowerBook G3 Bronze Keyboard, also known as the "Lombard" model, and a give away of some 50 of the new PowerBooks to attendees in a random drawing. This year's attendees will be the first to get their hands on Apple's next major version of Mac OS X, termed "Jaguar" by Apple's CEO.

"With Mac OS X taking center stage, it’s a very exciting time to be a Mac developer," said Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO. "To get our developers even more excited, we’ll be giving them a sneak peek at the next release of Mac OS X, code named Jaguar."

In addition, attendees will get intensive looks at other Apple technology. There are some 20 hours of QuickTime sessions and a similar amount of time devoted to networking sessions, which includes wireless networking. There will even be a special session on Bluetooth, Apple's newest wireless technology for digital peripherals.
