Apple Security Update 2003-06-12 for OS X Server 10.2.6 Only is Out and available for download via the Software Update preference panel and as a standalone installer.

Security Update 2003-06-12 updates Apache 2.0.45 to 2.0.46 and addresses a security hole in the mod_dav module that could be exploited remotely causing an Apache Web server process to crash. In addition, this update prevents the exposure of a user's password when using the dsimportexport tool.

Apache 1.3 is unaffected and is the primary web server on Mac OS X Server. Apache 2.0 is installed with Mac OS X Server, but off by default.

Note that the update will only appear in the Software Update window if you are running Mac OS X Sever. This update is not for Mac OS X client.

The Rise and Fall of Corel is outlined in this Canada.com article. Corel's rise was based on CorelDraw and allied graphics applications mostly for Windows. Although, we really liked CorelDraw for the Mac, it failed to catch on. Corel choked on it's WordPerfect acquisition, largely at the hands of the Microsoft Office hegemony. Near the end, Corel bought a number of popular Mac graphics applications, only to let them flounder along with our own favorite Mac mega wordprocessor, WordPerfect for the Mac 3.5. [Dana Baggett]

Apple Helps MA High Schoolers Produce Story Books: Masconomet Regional High School students made 65 story books using 12 iBooks and iPhoto according to this Tri-Town Transcript article. The books were assembled digitally and sent to Apple for printing and binding. The students shared their stories with first-graders and then donated them to local libraries. [Dana Baggett]
