From the Dark Side--BuyMusic.com Mimics Apple's iTunes Music Store Ads
according to this MacDailyNews article. BuyMusic.com, affiliated with on-line retailer Buy.com, even ripped off Apple's "For the Rest of Us" slogan. Well, what can one expect from the Wintel-lect? It's a trail blazed over and over again by the Evil Empire itself--copy, copy, copy.... However, according to this Wired article the restrictions on BuyMusic.com's downloaded music (cheaper at 79 cents per song) are more onerous than Apple's and not uniform among songs. The songs download only in Windows Media Player 9 format, not MP3 or ACC, and will not even play on the Windows version of Apple's iPod. [Dana Baggett]
