From the Dark Side--M$ Described Workarounds for IE Patent Infringement
according to this CNet article. While Microsoft still maintains that it will ultimately win the Eolas patent infringement lawsuit against their Internet Explorer, M$ has advised web designers on a couple of workarounds, including the addition of a dialog box when accessing a java applet, Adobe Acrobat file, Macromedia Flash, etc. However, in any case, the workarounds involve extensive work on existing web sites. M$ maintains that Netscape, Opera and other web browsers face the same issue. It's not clear if the Mac versions of these web browsers or Safari are affected or if its some "M$-only" technology, some of which is incompatible with most Mac web browsers. [Dana Baggett]
