From the Dark Side--M$ Owns Up on Security Patches

according to this ZDNet article. It was just a couple of weeks ago that the Richest Man in the World opined that it wasn't his company's fault that its software was vulnerable to viruses, etc. Why, Microsoft had issued a patch for every hole before any were exploited. Ergo, it was everyone else's fault for not using the patches--so there!

Well, Redmond has now dared to suggest that patches aren't the answer to swiss-cheese software.

"From our side, (it) has been a little naive to think that all of those customers are going to do patches," said Orlando Ayala, Microsoft's former sales chief, who now heads its sales push to small and midsize businesses. "It's just hard."
