Game Area.

Like at MWNY last summer, the game area was populated by booths of the major game publishers (Aspyr, MacPlay and Ferral Interactive) and a bank of about 50 17" iMacs and Power Macs with 22" Cinema Displays loaded with the latest games to try out. When we visited the area it was loaded with people and it was a fair wait to get to a machine. Each of the game publishers have kiosks with 4-12 computers loaded with their newest offerings, including those that haven't shipped yet.

The titles that MacPlay had ready to play were Freedom Force, No One Lives Forever, Real Myst and Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix. Aspyr had a lot more. Those not yet shipping from Aspyr but available to play and pre-order were Tony Hawk's Pro Skate 3, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2003. Other Aspyr titles available to play were: NASCAR Racing 2002, Ghost Recon, StarWars Jedi Knight: Jedi Outcast, Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds: Clone Campaign, Return to Castle Wolfenstein (a Macs Only! favorite), Medal of Honor: Allied Assault and The Sims Unleashed. Feral Interactive had F1 Championship Season, Sheep, Black & White, Black & White: Creature Isle, Enemy Engaged and Worm Blast.

There were a lot more titles from many other publishers, including: WWII Online, EverQuest, Warcraft III and Unreal Tournament 2003. We watched an impromptu match among 25 players of Unreal Tournament 2003 which has not been released yet. The winners will get a free copy shipped to their address on the same day that it is released.
