The key thing about iLife, available for $49 on Saturday, January 25, is the excellent integration of the four applications, iTunes 3 and the new iPhoto 2, iMovie 3 and iDVD 3. Exporting and importing music and images among them is simple and fast. iTune 3 already has the integration capability built in so it is not new. iPhoto 2 will have a whole new interface. It will add music to slide shows from iTunes, have a one-click enhance button that worked great in Steve Jobs demo and a retouch brush that easily removes blemishes. The latter also worked very well in the demo, easily removing blemishes and an errant hair. iPhoto 2 also has a one-click export slide shows to iMovie and iDVD. iMovie 3 will be in a window rather than seizing the whole screen. It will have chapters, the ability to edit audio in clips and a so-called Ken Burns Effect, i.e. making movies of still images. iDVD has 24 new themes. The applications, except for iDVD 3, will be available individually as a free download. iDVD has never been a download nor sold alone. It now will be sold in a box with the other applications as iLife for $49.
