Palm Sync

Reader Mike Warren noted, "The snafu was not Palm's but Apple's. People who upgraded over Jaguar have no problem using Palm's HotSync. People who performed an archive/install got "library" errors and were unable to sync. It turns out that the Panther installer failed to move two files from the old system to the new system. The problems I had with Palm HotSync went away after I moved the hotsync files ("Palm Conduit Library.cfm" and "HotSync Libraries") to [hard disk]/Library/CFMSupport/Hotsync Libraries/ If there are other Palm syncing problems in Panther but I have not encountered them."

Reader McQ confirmed this, "I did an 'upgrade' install of Panther last night; no problems. Afterwards, I put my Palm PDA in the cradle, hit the hotsync button and successfully sync'ed with iSync, so I guess if you don't have to re-install the Palm software, you are fine."
