PowerLogix
We spoke with Robert Jagitsch, PowerLogix's President, about their newest offerings which also include 800 MHz G3 CPUs for PCI and ZIF Power Macs and the PowerBook 2000 (Pismo). The dual 1.2 GHz model will be available in about 2 weeks for the Power Mac G4 and in about 3 weeks for the G4 Cube when thermal testing is complete. PowerLogix has developed a unique method for getting power to the G4 Cube's CPU which will aleviate power demands on the DC board, provide cooling to the CPU's voltage regulator and allow the Cube to run dual 1.2 GHz G4 CPUs. He expects to be able to offer a significant price break below published prices when the dual 1.2 GHz CPU begins shipping. Robert also mentioned that PowerLogix intends to eventually bring the faster 800 MHz G3 CPU to earlier PowerBook G3s (Lombard and Wall Street) and to the slot-loading iMacs.
