Details on QuickTime 6.5.1 Security Fix

QuickTime 6.5.1 has been available for download since Wednesday as we have noted. It can also be obtained via the Software Update pane in System Preferences and "Update Existing Software" menu item in QuickTime Player.

It fixes CAN-2004-0431 where playing a malformed .mov (movie) file could cause QuickTime to terminate. Credit to eEye Digital Security for reporting this issue. Information will also be posted to the Apple Product Security web site.
