Maine iBook Program: Interview with Laura Richter

She is a regional technology integration coordinator with the Maine Technology Learning Initiative that brought iBooks to all of Maine's seventh and eighth graders. Obviously, she is disappointed that only a third of Maine's ninth graders will get iBooks. When asked what are some of the special things students have learned, she replied in a Maine Today article,

Multimedia is second nature to them. To design and create a documentary of professional quality is all being realized through programs provided by the MLTI (Maine Learning Technology Initiative). Skowhegan Middle School sent a number of students on to Washington, D.C., in June with incredible documentaries on such topics as the space race, flight and civil rights issues. This is the fourth year students have competed at National History Day and school itself, (and have) taken first place overall at the Maine competition.
