Second Generation G5 CPU in Production at IBM

according to this Computerworld article and an earlier CNet article. Apple announced the Xserve G5 at Macworld Expo in early January. The Xserve G5's specs, we pointed out, noted that it would use the newer 90-nanometer process rather than the 130-nanometer process used in the first G5 CPUs. The smaller die uses less power and produces less heat at the same clock speed as the original G5. It is expected that the newer G5 will reach 2.5 GHz and will be cool enough to use in PowerBooks at lower speeds. [James Friedel and Dana Baggett]
