U.S. Protested Different Chinese WiFi Standard

A letter was sent from three top U.S. Government officials protesting China's pending adoption of the non-standard Wireless Authentication and Privacy Infrastructure (WAPI) standard for WiFi (like AirPort) wireless networking in China according to this RCR Wireless News article. The WAPI standard, set to be implemented June 1, will put U.S. firms like Apple at a competitive disadvantage. It will also confound interoperability for those traveling to China. [Dana Baggett]
