Apple Pro Video Posts Meet Me on the Ocean Floor

The Apple article by Barbara Gibson covers the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Ocean Exploration program, in particular the federal agency's Ocean Explorer Web site and its webmaster Mike Shelby. Perhaps better known for its National Weather Service, NOAA also has ocean programs that explore, chart, maintain marine sanctuaries, research and conserve marine life. NOAA, like NASA, is a big user of Apple's hardware and software technology. The article covers QuickTime 7 video streaming for NOAA's Ocean Explorer Web site and mentions the NOAA Xserve installation that serves a vast number of hurricane images during hurricanes like Dennis, and the currently threatening Katrina, without a "...burp."
