Cool Mac Software--New Public Beta of TypeIt4Me 3.0 (Universal)

On Sunday, Riccardo Ettore released the third public beta of his venerable Mac application TypeIt4Me v3.0b31 (Universal). TypeIt4Me 3.0 (Universal) has been undergoing rigorous private beta testing with 250 participants, including the Macs Only! staff. The third public beta of the new version 3.0 has nine new features and five bug fixes since the second public beta was released on May 18th. They are:

  1. Clippings can now contain styled (“rich”) text and/or pictures;
  2. Expansion can now occur WITHOUT requiring a delimiter/trigger (click None in the trigger selection pane to try this out). I personally hate this feature, but hey, good software design is all about offering users the CHOICE and there seem to be many users out there who value this feature, so here it is.
  3. You can now embed or nest clippings within clippings. This was requested by H-G last year and it’s finally available. Look inside the Insert/Special menu to try out this feature.
  4. Added View/Print Clippings to allow for easy printing of a nicely formatted list of all your clippings:;
  5. Clippings can now be custom ordered by dragging and dropping them in the list;
  6. Open File... can now import "snippets" from TextExpander files and "abbreviations" from Typinator files, allowing you to upgrade to TypeIt4Me without having to re-enter your abbreviations;
  7. Improved Add a Clipping window by making it resizeable and handling RTF, RTFD and various picture formats from the Clipboard;
  8. Changed the way spaces are appended to the expanded clipping to try and work around Apple's Mail problem with occasionally dropping the space
  9. Started work on supporting French, Italian, German and Spanish in the user interface. The User Guide, however, is only in English for now.
  10. TypeIt4Me now saves/restores the contents of clipboard prior to invoking Add a Clipping
  11. Cleaned up code in various places.
  12. Fixed a problem with using alt-chars as part of the abbreviation
  13. Improved the registration dialog
  14. Fixed a bug that would prevent a hotkey based on the letter A from showing in the button title.

We've found Riccardo's TyeIt4Me to be an essential utility application, saving us countless time in repetitive typing. [Bill Fox]
