From the Dark Side--Ensure a New PC Will Run Windows Vista, Get a Mac
Walter Mossberg offers a Annual Buying Guide in today's Wall Street Journal for folks who want to buy a PC now that can use Windows Vista later. It's quite complex because Microsoft has not yet issued final specs for running Vista, there will be low-powered and high-powered versions of Vista and Microsoft usually understates the requirements.
But why doesn't he offer a buying guide for Macs? That's simple according to Mossberg,
"I believe every mainstream consumer doing typical tasks should consider the Mac. Its operating system already contains most of the key features promised for Vista. However, the Mac doesn't really need a buyer's guide. It has only two consumer desktop models -- the gorgeous iMac and the low-end Mac Mini."
And if you want to be sure to be able to run Vista, get an Intel-based Mac. [Dana Baggett]
