Hack Available for Intel-Based Macs to use Grants.Gov

Last Friday, we noted that the IBM beta Pure Edge grants software for the Mac can not be used on Intel-based Macs. However, reader and chemist Chris Swain (Macs in Chemistry) pointed us to a hack that will allow the beta Pure Edge Mac software to be installed and run on Intel-based Macs under Rosetta emulation. The hack is being distributed by MacResearch which bills itself as the "Online Community and Resource for Mac OS X in Science." They note,

"MacResearch has modified the installer for the MacViewer application (Pure Edge application for Macs from IBM) to enable it to install on Intel based Macs. The installed application will run via translation through Rosetta. No modifications have been made to the actual application. Therefore this installer CAN also be used on PowerPC Macs."
