Macworld Show Floor--One More Thing, MyVu

We almost forgot to mention one of the coolest things we saw on the Macworld 2006 Expo floor for the iPod with video, the MyVu personal media viewer. MyVu is a thin (or narrow?) video and audio playing headset for the iPod. MyVu is worn like glasses and has built-in earbud headphones. It is designed to be used while seated or reclined.

We tried on MyVu. The actual size of the screen is tiny, of course, but it appears to be much larger because of its proximity to the eyes. It's much easier to watch than a device with a small screen being held in the hand. Indeed, it is thin enough to see around vertically (above and below) and with peripheral vision while being worn. We are not so sure that we would wear MyVu while walking around heavy street traffic but the video screen can be watched while moving about--carefully. The sound was as good as regular earbuds. MyVu is made by MicroOptical and it sold for $269 at Macworld. It's coming soon to U.S. retailers.
