Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference begins Today with Steve Jobs' Keynote

At 10 a.m. PT, Apple's CEO Steve Jobs will take the stage in the Presidio Room of the Moscone West Conference Center in San Francisco to kickoff Apple's 2007 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). His 1.5-hour keynote address will focus on Apple's next operating system Mac OS X 10.5 "Leopard" scheduled for release in October. All of Leopard's new features will be described to the attending throng of developers and media. On the order of 2,000 attendees are expected.

Steve Jobs may talk about more than just Leopard at WWDC since Apple's iPhone is due to be released June 29th. With just over two weeks until the iPhone's release, some of its mysteries may be revealed. Developers are hoping that they will get a crack at developing applications for the new phone and consumers are still waiting to hear the terms of AT&T Wireless' exclusive service.

Apple's iPhone received an unexpected boost when the ITC prohibited the importation of new cell phones made with Qualcomm's 3G chip because of a patent infringement ruling in favor of rival chip maker Broadcom. The ruling will keep many major manufacturers like Samsung, Motorola and LG from releasing in the U.S. competing new phones like the Prada-branded models. [Bill Fox & Dana Baggett]
