Brief Hands-On Report--Aspyr released Doom 3 v1.3.1 Update
On Friday, Aspyr Media released version 1.3.1 update to its popular Doom 3 game. It can be downloaded from MacGameFiles.com.
According to Aspyr, the version 1.3.1 updates are:
- Fixes a potential crash in physics
- Fixes an issue with pak downloaded being immediately appended without filesystem restart
- Fixes to DNS lookup, reduced the stalls
Version 1.3.1 may also be slightly faster than version 1.3. We ran our speed test on our 2.33GHz 15" MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo. Here are the results:

We wrote that v1.3.1 "may" be faster than v1.3 because, even though v1.3.1 was consistently faster, the difference of 1 fps is hardly significant. [Bill Fox]
