Aspyr Mac Game Report--Civ 4: Warlords, Star Wars: Empire at War and Prey
Work on Star Wars: Empire at War for Mac is moving along nicely. As December approaches they are entering full testing, and one of their main areas of focus has been to make sure the game runs well on the entire lineup of Intel Macs, including the Mac Book and Mac mini. Brad Oliver, their chief Star Wars expert and veteran of games such as Jedi Knight 2, Jedi Academy and Knights of the Old Republic, is the lead programmer on Empire at War Mac.
Aspyr is also working on their latest Mac game, Prey. Based on an enhanced Doom 3 engine, Prey adds portals and the ability walk on walls and flip gravity to completely change what you expect in a first person shooter. The game is up and running well on the Mac, and is in the final stages of testing. Aspyr's previous experience with the Doom 3 engine on the Mac has made the transition of Prey to OS X very smooth, and if all continues to go well it will be hitting store shelves in early 2007.
