Cool Mac Software--SMARTReporter 2.2.5 is Free

SMARTReporter can warn you of some ATA or SATA hard disk failures before they actually happen. It does so by periodically polling the S.M.A.R.T. status of your hard disk. S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring Analysis and Reporting Technology) is a technology built into most modern hard disks that acts as an early warning system for pending drive problems.

What's new in v2.2.5:

  • Added ability to check for updates automatically
  • Added option to use red menu-icon when a disk is failing
  • Added new menu items: "Send Feedback…", "About SMARTReporter",
  • "Open ReadMe…", "Open FAQ…", "Open History…"
  • Added three new menu-icon-sets (thanks to Alex)
  • Added Japanese translation (thanks to jumpei suzuki)
  • Added check if SMARTReporter crashed with option to send me the details
  • Fixed the "Donate" option to point to an english page instead of a german one
  • Fixed a possible problem with strings not appearing in dialogs, leading to dialogs without text
  • Fixes for e-mail sending
  • Fixed a small memory leak
  • Also, the French, Spanish and Catalan editions were updated.

SMARTReporter 2.2.5, donationware by A. Julian Mayer, is available for download via MacUpdate.com. [Dana Baggett]
