From the Dark Side--M$ CEO Ballmer speaking on Innovation-- An Oxymoron?
The Arizona Technology Council has asked Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer to speak at the inaugural 2007 Byte Night on March 13 in upscale Scottsdale, AZ. His topic? Believe it or not, the title of his talk during the pre-dinner reception is The Role of Innovation in Driving Positive Social and Economic Impact. Now, isn't he the man who has stated publicly that he doesn't know what a monopoly is when every high school kid who got at least a "C" in their American history class probably does and who leads a company that copies or buys anything innovative? We'll bet the guests, including Arizona Governor Napolitano, will be stimulated beyond belief.
During Byte Night, select individuals will be presented with a Techanthropic Award that honors those who use technology in a manner that benefits philanthropic causes in Arizona. Awards will be presented in three categories that include: Arts, Culture and Humanities; Health and Human Services; and Education. [Bill Fox]
