QuarkXPress 7.2 Update is Out
Quark released an update to its professional layout application, QuarkXPress. Version 7.2 is available via MacUpdate.com or from this Quark Web page. According to Quark,
This maintenance release underscores Quark's commitment to quality and includes design and print production functionality improvements. Important enhancements include:
- Microsoft Vista support
- Job Jackets: Basic user interface modifications allow you to create new rules directly from a layout evaluation dialog box, to create and edit output specifications directly from the Output job dialog box, and to create new layout specifications directly from the layout menu
- Flattening: Users can specify resolutions for different types of objects, specifically vector graphics, drop shadows, and blends
- Color Management Module: QuarkXPress 7.2 supports Kodak®’s new CMM that adds Black Point Compensation. QuarkXPress 7 continues to support different CMMs that offer users a robust set of choices and cross-platform compatibility
- Support for Quark® XPert Tools Pro XTensions software (Quark XPert Tools Pro is a free download to current QuarkXPress 7 users)
- The resolution of several recently discovered issues
QuarkXPress Passport® 7.2 users can now take advantage of translated user interfaces for five additional languages Czech, Greek, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, and Turkish.
If you use Mac OS, you must have QuarkXPress or QuarkXPress Passport 7.01 or 7.02 installed before updating to QuarkXPress 7.2.
Here is the Read Me file. Quark also has a Web page that describes the issues that were resolved in the 7.2 update and another listing the known issues in 7.2. [Bill Fox]
