TurboTax E-filing Clog gets 2-day IRS Extension and may benefit TaxCut 2007
We posted a favorable review of TaxCut 2006 for Mac, noting how fast and problem-free it was this year. Well, Intuit's servers processing e-filed tax returns using TurboTax bogged down under the load of last-minute filers according to this AP story. The IRS has extended the deadline for those taxpayer through today, April 19, a two-day reprieve. Apparently, Intuit did not accurately anticipate the load resulting in delays of multiple hours in just getting confirmation that the returns had been filed.
All Macs Only! staffers currently plan to use TaxCut for 2007 based on our excellent 2006 experience, the much better "finish" of TaxCut for Mac vs TurboTax for Mac, much lower cost and the widespread reported e-filing problems with TurboTax. [Dana Baggett & Bill Fox]
