Bill Fox
Publisher/Editor, 2004 to 2009. 2,525 bylined items, median 150 words.
Founder, publisher and editor from December 1995. In the archive his name appears as a bracketed credit only from late 2004, because before that the site's unsigned house voice was his; the 64% of items with no byline are, in practice, Bill Fox. He wrote the long forms: every Hands-On Report, every Commentary, the Macworld show-floor reports, and, after 2004, the daily deals and seminar listings that kept the site funded. His sentences are longer than Dana's (median item 150 words against 57), he uses the first person plural as a matter of policy and slips into the singular only in hands-on reports about his own machines. He discloses what he owns, what he ordered, and what he could not get to work.
