MacInsider has an interesting letter from a former CompUSA salesman about the problems and fixes needed in the computer
As a PowerComputing PowerBase owner, I got a letter today from Steve Jobs "...welcom[ing] [me] back to the family..." and announcing that PowerComputing once again qualifies for the Mac Up to Date Program. The enclosed coupon allows me to upgrade to Mac OS 7.6 if my PowerBase was purchased between 12/7/96 and 6/21/97 or Mac OS 8 if purchased on 6/22/97 or later--kind of an amnesty that I have to respond to by 10/15/97. That's pretty generous. It also pledges "... to maintain the level of support that [I've] become accustomed to ..." and states that Apple will be producing "... hot new machines in the months ahead," and "...exploring new ways to deliver and custom-configure [Apple's] products." Thanks, Steve, I'm looking forward to all of it.
