The Austin American-Statesman is a good source of information on the many computer-related firms located in Austin, TX.

The Sunday and Monday editions cover more of the story on PowerComputing's demise and POWERTools' (a former Macs Only! sponsor) lawsuits against UMAX and Apple. Both articles make interesting reading for those still interested in the Mac OS licensing issue. The former alleges that Power offered four times its existing license fee to Apple, that Steve Jobs asked for a business plan for Power to work under Apple and that a two-camp rift developed between CEO Steve Kahng and President Joel Kocher supporters that continues today. The latter alleges that POWERTools got screwed by UMAX shifting its contract to UMAX's U.S. subsidiary which had a prior agreement with Apple that precluded fulfilling the original the POWERTools/UMAX contract. Under the UMAX agreement, the articles states, POWERTools has been outfitting partial UMAX systems.
