CompUSA/Apple Stores

Here's one of the more lengthy and articulate letters that I've received from readers about the poor shopping experience for Apple products in these new store-in-a-stores, especially bad are the unknowledgeable, destructive sales people and even very rude ones. Greg Tapalow hits the nail on the head. This problem is rampant acccording to my mail but not everywhere so there is still hope that this deal will eventually work--it's going to need a lot of attention. Please write Apple about any bad experiences. In Northern Virginia, MicroCenter still does the best job for a large regional retailer. I get this comment from just about everyone with a nearby MicroCenter. Don't forget the smaller Apple resellers!

Some time ago I promised a review of Intuit's MacInTax for 1997. Well, the CD, state diskettes and records are all in a pile awaiting my attention prior to April 15th. However, Macs Only!'s ace reporter Dana Baggett is dilligent enough to have filed for 1997 already and nice enough to provide use notes based on Dana's experience. They are right here.

Writing of use-notes, here are Macs Only!'s additional notes for installing Mac OS 8.1 from the CD.

The Macintosh Resource Page posted a settlement notice on a class action suit against Iomega regarding support policies for their Zip and Jaz drives. Read it carefully if you have one of these drives. The plaintiff is a 15 year-old boy with friends. [Thanks Dana Baggett]

Version Tracker posted these software updates:

According to MacWEEK, Adobe Photoshop 5.0 in beta is looking good! [Thanks Dana Baggett]

From Alex Wettreich, mrcdrom has "Journeyman Project 3: Legacy of Time" for $44.95.
