Double Shut Down Problem -- Update
I have been covering this issue all all week and with help from a lot of readers, particularly Ken Glinka and Dana Baggett, posted the reason and fixes for at least one of the causes on Saturday (2/14). Reader Bill Elgin pointed out that the DSDP acts as if it were a crash to Norton Crash Guard causing the need to reboot. I hope this observation helps some of you with a crash to NCG following the use of Netscape Messenger (mail) with Mac OS 8.1--you can fix it the same way as the DSDP.
I was unable to update Macs Only's CompUSA Watch Page! this weekend but here is a list of CompUSA's with Apple stores that were reported this past week:
| Store | Reporter | Store | Reporter |
|---|---|---|---|
| Las Vegas NV | John Haug | Mesa AZ | Barry Goodman |
| Fram'ham MA | R. Colantuoni | Braintree MA | R. Colantuoni |
| Alexandria VA | Matt Dwyer | San Antonio TX | Ross Hutchins |
| King 'Prussia PA | Tim Manley | Madison WI | Warren Tripp |
| Houston TX | Hideki Hiranuma | Okla City, OK | Dale Perrymore |
| Post Oak TX | Hideki Hiranuma | Marietta GA | Chris Adamson |
| Reno NV | Craig Boyer | Brighton MA | William Harris |
Unfortunately, I continue to get many, many reports on the lack of sales people in the Apple store or the lack of sales people knowledgeable about Macs or worse, sales people that are rude and hostile to potential customers. Please continue to report these incidents to Apple.
