From The Dark Side--CPUs Speed Up

AMD released a new Athlon CPU chip. The 750-MHz Athlon is the first chip to be manufactured using AMD's 0.18-micron technology according to this TechWeb article. Lets see, 750 MHz in a CISC chip roughly equals 375 MHz in a PowerPC RISC chip so .... I sure wish the computer industry would come up with a common performance measure that more accurately reflects processor power and use it. It's kind of like some car manufacturers advertising SAE gross horsepower and others advertising SAE net but both saying just "horsepower".
