Kodak Short Changes Mac Users

From Greg Bohlken, "I received a Kodak DC240 Zoom digital camera as a gift, and the box included a mail-in coupon good for a free Digital Camera Expansion Pack, valued at $150. What a deal! I am an iMac user, and was quite pleased that the DC240 includes excellent support for USB and serial Macs. However, upon sending in for the free expansion pack, I learned that Mac support does not run so deep at Kodak. The expansion pack includes a parallel port-only Compact Flash card reader, and Kodak does not allow the option to exchange the parallel reader for a USB model. This is particularly odd considering that the supplier of the parallel reader, Datafab, lists a USB Mac-savvy model identical to the model Kodak supplies in the free kit. As a concession to Mac users, Kodak will accept the parallel card reader in exchange for a free 8MB Compact Flash card. This is decent of them, but hardly forthright and honest. There is no indication on the mail-in coupon that Mac users won't be receiving a functional card reader, and it is only after a nice game of Phone Mail options and waits on hold that a customer can talk to a "Digital Specialist" who is able to authorize the return/exchange. Kodak makes every attempt to appear Mac-friendly in the store when you have your wallet ready, but after making a purchase then they tell you that you don't get the same benefits as a Windows user."
