iMacs At Sears--Deja Vu All Over Again?

From Jim Connerly, "Had a day off yesterday and went shopping, stopped by the Sears store in Southern Park Mall, Youngstown Oh.. It was not pretty, by the time I found the electronics section on the second floor, (most of the mall is one floor), they had one blueberry iMac on display. I was approached by a young sales person who had no knowledge of, or training on the iMac. He preceded to tell me about the lack of a floppy drive and that there was no way to add a printer either. He stated it was only good for the internet since it was suppose to be designed for that. I asked about software and he said there was very little out there other than what came with the machine, and he didn't know what software came with it. I showed him how to attach a printer, which they didn't have, and I tried to get a demo running but there wasn't any on the machine. He said that they had not gotten any other CD's or demo packs with the machine as far as he knew, just a regular iMac in a box. If I get a chance I'll check out a couple of other Sears stores in the local area, I sure hope they aren't like this one. [T]his is going to turn something that could be great for Apple into a mess." Dana Baggett reported no iMacs yet at the Brunswick, ME, Sears store. He also noted a common Sears practice [not only Sears] of posting higher prices initially for items and then discounting and advertising them as being "on sale". This might account for observations of Sears selling $1199 list iMacs for $1299.
